Limmud NY iPod Handbook
Carry complete program schedule and presenter information in your iPod |
- Summary The iPod Handbook can be installed on your
iPod nano, iPod mini, and most regular iPods.
It includes the complete schedule including presenters' information and
session descriptions. You can browse the schedule by day and time or by presenter.
- Required software and hardware You must be able to synch your
iPod with your Windows or Macintosh computer.
You need a high speed connection to the Internet.
Supported iPods: iPod nano, iPod mini and 3rd generation or later regular iPods.
The 3rd generation iPod was the first with a dock connection; it was released in April, 2003.
First Time Installation
- Step 1Windows and Macintosh Attach your iPod to your
computer and enable disk use for your iPod using iTunes if it isn't already checked.

You should now see your iPod as a new disk drive letter
(Windows screenshot) or on your desktop
(Mac screenshot).
If you don't then use iTunes to eject your iPod, then disconnect and re-connect it to your computer.
- Step 2Windows Download the
Limmud NY iPod installer and
run it on your computer. It will download and install the handbook onto your iPod.
- Step 2Macintosh Download the
Limmud NY iPod handbook file to your desktop.
Your computer should display the handbook folder on your desktop.
Open the iPod disk icon. Drag and drop the folder into the "Notes" folder in the iPod.

- Step 3Windows and Macintosh Eject your iPod using the iTunes
software. Do not simply unplug the iPod. On your iPod's main menu, you should see a choice "Notes."
If you do not, enter Settings / Main menu. Under the "Extras" category, select "Notes" and press the center
button. This will change "Notes" from Off to On. When you go back to the main menu you
will see the Notes category.
- Try it out! Go to your "Notes" screen and click on the
Limmud NY folder. The iPod will say "Loading notes." This message will last a couple of
minutes while the iPod processes the handbook. This delay only occurs once.
You can now browse by presenter or by session day and time. You can click the
links to surf the schedule. Use the "Home" links to return to the beginning of the schedule.
Use the click wheel's top button to go "Back" to the previous document.
Updating the Program Handbook
- New versions of the handbook The handbook is
updated regularly up until and through the conference. To install a
new version on Windows, restart the installer on your computer. For the Mac,
re-do step 2, above, to download the most current Handbook.
