Rebecca maintains a private Feldenkrais (movement) practice in New York. She is a doctoral student in Jewish education, coaches teachers, and writes curriculum in Jewish studies. Her research interests include the Jewish day school, the body in Jewish sources, and curriculum mapping. In her free time she studies modern and contact dance.

Improve your balance with this gentle set of movements. Learn elegance, grace, and improved posture. This lesson was designed by the engineer, judo master, and Israeli physicist, Dr. Moshe Feldenkrais, who developed the method to improve his movements after injuries. In this Feldenkrais lesson we will observe our habits and develop more choice in our movements.

The Path of Least Resistance

In this contact improv class we will work with rolling, weight bearing, and sensory listening. We will incorporate gentle patterns of moving that involve integration of the spine and pelvis. Contact dance combines elements from martial arts, surfing, and wrestling. Men and women are both invited. No previous knowledge is necessary— just a desire to play.
The Body in Classical Jewish Texts

What are some perspectives on the body in Jewish classical sources? We will look at carnal knowledge and body experiences in a selected sources including Adam and Eve's experiences (Genesis) and selected stories in the Talmud. We will explore the concept of carnal knowledge and the relationship between body and soul. English translations are provided for all sources.
